National Women's Health Week

May 13-19 is National Women's Health Week. Celebrate by evaluating your current health and strengthening those habits that can lead to improved health.

We all know the basics:

  • Eat healthy.

  • Sleep 7-8 hours per night.

  • Move/Exercise 30 minutes per day.

  • Avoid smoking, drugs, processed foods/sugar, texting while driving and other unhealthy activities.

  • Limit alcohol and stress (or discover/explore coping techniques).

Following these basics in a consistent, steady manner takes discipline but 3-4 weeks can cause a habit to become automatic. Start small with baby steps and build slowly instead of crash diets and drastic exercise programs.

Talk to your healthcare provider about symptoms and issues that affect your quality of life. Hot flashes, night sweats, depression, anxiety, mood swings, difficulty sleeping, vaginal dryness/pain, and fatigue can significantly impact health and well being. These symptoms can be treated and alleviated.

Celebrate Women's Health Week by taking control of your own health!
