Hair Thinning and Loss

As men and women, the last thing we want to worry about is why we are losing our scalp hair! It can start at anytime and for some of us we have no idea why it is happening.

Hair loss could be caused by hormonal imbalances. High or low levels of thyroid should be ruled out when scalp hair loss occurs. Estrogen dominance (high levels of estrogen compared to progesterone) can also negatively affect your hair. For a very small group of women, and many men the body can covert testosterone into excessive amounts of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) which can damage the hair follicles. This creates the male pattern baldness recognizable by a receding hair line.

Nutritional deficiencies are something to consider as well. Good nutrition helps the body stay healthy and function properly. Biotin and other B Vitamins keep the hair follicles strong. Keeping your protein and iron levels stable also helps.

Check with your doctor or call Rivertown Compounding Pharmacy to see how we can help or answer any questions you may have regarding scalp hair loss!
