Gelatin Troches

Updated: Feb 3, 2020

Troches are small lozenges that are dissolved in between the cheek and gum or underneath the tongue. Troches are a great choice for delivering medications directly into the bloodstream via the saliva glands, avoiding first pass metabolism through the liver. Troches can be formulated using different kinds of wax, polyglycol bases, or gelatin mixed with sweeteners and flavoring to make them more palatable. We find that gelatin stands out above the rest with better flavor, a smoother texture, and a truly open palate for customizing medication to fit the needs of all kinds of patients. Using the latest compounding technology we are able to drive the active ingredients and flavors into the gelatin making a completely homogeneous formulation that ensures a consistent dose every time.
